Designing The Optimal Plan

As part of the Washington State growth management plans, increased urban density is encouraged to reduce urban sprawl in populated areas. Within the City of Seattle, numerous building lots for infill housing are available-either being vacant or having the ability to be created through short plats, lot boundary adjustments or other land use actions which create new construction lots.

Many of these available lots are small or narrow, and require special design solutions.
We have recently been designing special narrow homes using the reverse slope or “butterfly” roofs. This roof style allows for dramatic cathedral ceilings and a sense of light and volume in an essentially narrow plan. Large open spaces further the feeling of space while windows located high in the walls provide for light and airiness while maintaining privacy.

Many of these techniques are also used in more traditional floor plans to enhance livability and comfort within the home.

Whatever the size or shape of lot-we always create a custom design which utilizes the site’s particular light conditions, views, and access to the fullest extent.

We design a house, you make it a home! ...

We are always mindful that while we are designing a house-it is the end user who will make that house a home. We always carefully listen to all inputs we receive and work to make our design responsive to the owner’s needs and wants.
